What previous exhibitors have thought:
Every year, the Eco Schools Show manages to celebrate environmental education in an interactive and inspiring way, not only for the pupils and teachers but also for the exhibitors!
Fiona Bradford
Helping Hand Company
The Eco-Schools Show provides a great opportunity to engage children in sustainability issues. It is also the best platform I have found in the UK to meet with other environmental educators, share ideas and best practise. It is a truly inspiring and exciting event, supporting excellence in environmental education. It is growing every year and I believe it has set the benchmark as the most informative, engaging and exciting sustainability event for children and schools in the UK.
Katy Newnham
Wastebuster CIC
Yes we very much enjoyed the show, it was the first Eco Schools show that I have attended and I think I will be attending a few more!
Mel Cooper
Bay West Washrooms
What a great show! It was very busy and generated a lot of potential schools for us to work with in providing cycle and scooter storage. Our Scooter training proved so successful, that we had to allot times for schools because the queues were so long. As ever, the Keep Britain Tidy team were very helpful and provided a great platform for the entertainment of all visitors, adults too! Great day was had by all. Thanks again.
Jan Robinson
Cyclepods
We found the Eco-Schools Show a fantastic way to talk to our target audience, we met many teachers that are the decision makers on sustainable issues in schools and it was great to see such enthusiasm for environmental education from the children and the teachers.
Lindsey Poole
Marketing and Communications Manager, The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire,
Manchester and North Merseyside
This was our first time attending and we were very impressed with the level of assistance offered by the professional team that Keep Britain Tidy had in place. Nothing was a problem for them! The calibre and focused nature of the decision makers present was a perfect fit for our Green Button Campaign launch. Our engagement with the visitors was very interactive (especially the enthusiastic students) and we now have a pipeline of very warm leads to develop in the coming months. We will be back again next year!

Our most recent innovation was to team up with Sing London and Keep Britain Tidy to provide singing bins. A trial showed that a reactive bin gathered twice as much waste in the same environment as a passive one.
Our new voice box is easily programmed and reprogrammed without removing the box itself and can deliver any length or number of messages depending on your objective.Come and see us on stand number 12 and experience the power of the spoken word.

Bag2School

The Bag2School 'blue bag' scheme is now one of the most revered textile collection schemes working with schools and colleges in the UK. Northallerton based Bag2School revolutionised the old rag trade in 2001 when they launched their free scheme with schools in the Northallerton area. 12 years later Bag2School now operates with over 20,000 schools and colleges throughout the UK and has paid out over £14 million to PTAs and Friends of Schools associations.
A dedicated customer services team backed with a nationwide network of drivers and warehouses ensures a professional service is delivered to schools. We also have an education service to help raise awareness of the issues of REUSE and RECYCLE as well as promoting the collection to ensure maximum participation.
Bag2School is passionate about the environmental impact of unwanted textiles and has been involved with DEFRA and WRAP initiatives examining the issues of 'end of life' for clothing and shoes as well as also being an active member of the Textile Recycling Association.
The success of Bag2School has led to the formation of a sister company Bag2TheFuture which partners with any organisation outside the education sector wishing to use textiles as a fundraising vehicle. In addition we have expanded our operations to Holland, Canada, USA, Ireland and more recently Switzerland - a truly international business model.
Many companies have sought to emulate our business model -we take pride in still being the market leader, locally based, nationally run and internationally diverse textile recycling company working with schools.

British Council

Working with schools across Europe can bring learning alive for pupils and staff alike. Joanna Speak, Assistant Head at Cookridge Primary School in Leeds, talks about her school's experience of Comenius and eTwinning, the British Council's programmes for creating school links across Europe.
Clothes Aid

Established in 1996, Clothes Aid is the UK's largest clothes collection fundraising agency, generating over £1m every year for UK charities such as the NSPCC or Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK. In early 2012, the social business launched its Schools Collection scheme, giving schools the opportunity to raise funds for themselves or one of our partner charities.
As part of the programme, pupils learn about the environmental impact of clothes, the importance of active citizenship and the advantages of recycling. Textiles are the fastest-growing area of household waste, with approximately 1 million tonnes of textiles still going to UK landfill every year*. As a stakeholder on DEFRA's Sustainable Clothes Action Plan, Clothes Aid is committed to enabling and encouraging more families throughout the UK to recycle their unwanted textiles.

We pay £600 for every tonne of clothes collected - that's around £3 a bag, for 200 full bags. Your school can keep all of the money raised, or share it with one of our charity partners. It’s completely up to you.
"Clothes Aid has put in a phenomenal effort to help us raise over £2 million since July 2009. We are extremely grateful to Clothes Aid and the general public for helping raise such an exceptional amount for children."
Svetlana Kirov, NSPCC
"We are thrilled to be working with Clothes Aid. This year alone 1,400 children will turn to us to have their special wish granted. With your help we can grant many more."
Karen England, Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK

CO2Sense

CO2Sense is the not-for-profit low-carbon expert company that helps schools to cut their costs and to improve their environmental performance.
We help schools to find real cost savings by developing low-carbon strategies, which give no-nonsense, clear direction to reduce energy and water use, to produce less waste and to use fewer raw materials. We do this by working with the school to look at their needs, and develop a bespoke strategy for them. We then use this strategy to get the whole school involved with making cost and carbon savings.
We also help schools to generate free energy and to create an income from renewable electricity and heating installations. Because we're not trying to sell a particular type of renewable energy, we make sure that schools install the technologies that will deliver the best possible return for their investment. Our experts will look at the energy needs of the school and the site, and then make a recommendation specifically for their organisation.
We can even help to pay for low-carbon projects, with capital investment.
We'd love to meet you, come to our stand - no 30 - or seminar in room 3 at 11.30 to play Renewable Pursuits.

Billy was awestruck, he had a big smile on his face, but he was still in total disbelief. Without trying - or even searching for it - he had stumbled upon the single easiest environmental saving he could have made in his School. Billy immediately knew that his schools eco woes were over for good... and then some!
So what had Billy discovered and how is this relevant to you!
Firstly let us paint a picture for you.
In the UK alone at least 40 million printer and toner cartridges end up in landfill, every year. This is over 37,000 tons of toxic, non -recyclable waste that takes up to 1,000 years to bio-degrade. This amount of waste is nearly twice the amount of steel that was used to construct the 90,000 capacity Wembley Stadium. Staggering isn't it?
So what had Billy discovered?
Billy discovered colour printers for schools that do not require replacement toners or cartridges to print!
In fact the printers Billy stumbled upon were so environmentally friendly that for every single printer that he replaced in his school he was able to save each year
- 14kg of solid waste going to landfill
- 292kw of electricity being used
- 73kg of greenhouse gasses being emitted
The joyful smile on Billy's face was made even sweeter by the fact that his new supplier was at least 30% cheaper than his existing solution and he did not even need to purchase the printers, so there was no lengthy payback period and no time based contract to sign. Who says an environmentally friendly solution has to cost more, hey?
How, you may now be asking, can I find out if this will work for my school. Well its simple, visit stand 9 at the Eco School show to see for yourself how this new technology works and can benefit you.

Living Streets Walk to School campaign

The Living Streets Walk to School campaign has been flying the flag for walking to school since 1995. It now reaches more than 1.6 million children each year. The Walk to School campaign's aim is simple: to encourage all parents, children and young people to make walking to school part of their daily routine. Our vision is that every child who can walk to school does so.
Our main scheme for primary schools is called Walk once a Week (WoW), which encourages over 300,000 children to walk at least once a week. In return, they earn a collectable badge every month, designed by children themselves.
In the last three years, we've also reached over 300,000 secondary school students through our popular Free Your Feet and Campaign in a Box schemes.
We support schools and partners to hold events and activities during Walk to School Week in May, and International Walk to School Month in October.
Love Where You Live

Love Where You Live is a campaign that aims to inspire, encourage and enable us to make where we live, work and play the kind of place we really want it to be. It's about making a difference ourselves, whether as individuals, groups, local authorities or companies.
It's loving where we live that makes us want a great place to be even better. Whether it's the litter in our local park, the graffiti on the wall of a much-used community centre or a favourite canal-side walk in need of a clean up - if we love it, we want to do something to look after it.
The education sector has a vital role in raising public awareness to the importance of valuing where we live and more importantly how we live; why we don't drop litter, why we care about where we live. Our Love Where You Live Educational Resources include a range of free lesson ideas, assembly ideas, and challenges that link with the national curriculum and Eco-Schools Awards in creative ways.
Come visit us on stand 36 and make your pledge to Love Where You Live!

Travel South Yorkshire

Travel South Yorkshire's Education Team encourages young people to view active travel as a natural choice when going to school. The team raises awareness of the impact unnecessary car use can have on the environment and inspires young people to take responsibility for their actions and understand the consequences of inappropriate behaviour for themselves and others.
Last year the team provided information and travel advice in over 400 schools and delivered travel advice to over 42,000 pupils. Nearly 23 million public transport journeys were made by young people in 2010/11 - 17% of the total in South Yorkshire!
The Education Team's goal is to inspire young people to safe and active travel through:
- Sustainable travel choice
- Responsibility for actions
- Environmental awareness
They aim to establish positive action at a young age to give children the confidence and skills to travel independently so that sustainable travel becomes a natural choice rather than trying to change behaviours later when habits and attitudes have become established. By reducing the number of children being taken to school by car, together we can relieve congestion, improve road safety around schools and help them to understand the impact traffic has on their environment and community.
Encouraging responsibility when travelling to reduce the number of antisocial behaviour incidents involving children will improve the perception of safety and make public transport a more attractive travel option for everybody.
Travel South Yorkshire also works to ensure positive engagement in public transport awareness and use for those with learning difficulties and disabilities or special educational needs.
Tumbleweed

OUR WORMS ARE TURNING... Your household or schools organic food waste into a wonderful natural fertilizer - FOR LIFE, FOR FREE!
At Tumbleweed® we supply products that are essential for recycling both at home and at school; what's more our composters and worm farms are made from 100% recycled plastic ' proving how much we care about our environment.
Why recycle?
Approximately 30% of all waste we throw away is organic; Organic waste in landfill decomposes releasing methane, a potential greenhouse gas, along with an acidic leachate that can pollute the water table and therefore water sources.
Worm farming - or Vermicomposting - is the process by which special worms convert this waste into 'wormcasts' - a rich, PH neutral organic compost, along with a nourishing liquid feed known as 'worm tea' - both of which aid growth and vitality when used on your garden or vegetable patch. Worms love to live in our worm farms - and a happy worm is a hungry worm!
Which Worm-farm is best for you?
The Tumbleweed Can-o-Worms is an excellent educational tool designed to introduce young people to composting and recycling.
The Tumbleweed Worm Café® is the ultimate Hi-rise, low maintenance accommodation for hungry worms - with easy-to-use features designed to ensure maximum benefit both at home or at school.
We want all Eco Schools to be 'Worm Friendly' - so come and see us, and our friendly worms, at the Eco Schools Show - stand 18 or contact Andy Wigg:

Veolia Environmental Services

Veolia Environmental Services is the UK's leading recycling and waste management company and is committed to helping develop the next generation of recyclers across the UK and help schools recycle more.
Firstly we help improve the environmental performance of those schools to which we provide commercial recycling and collection services. We provide a free waste audit to any school to help ensure reliable recycling services are tailored to suit each school's requirements. We can also work with them to measure and decrease their carbon emissions with the "Greenhouse Gas Tracker".
Our collection schemes reclaim a wide variety of materials including paper, card, plastic, glass and metals designed to reduce your costs by improving landfill diversion. Once sorted, we can also help to find the right market for recyclables through our extensive reprocessor network. Secondly, we invite schools to visit the education facilities at a number of our treatment facilities many of which are LoTC (Learning outside The Classroom) approved. We have materials and energy recovery facilities in Southwark, Hampshire, West Berkshire, East Sussex, Nottinghamshire and Merseyside which accommodate school visits. The thousands of school pupils who attend our regular environmental education sessions are helping us spread the sustainability message.
The emphasis for the waste awareness sessions and workshops is "hands on" and "fun" but the aim is to promote action to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and show children how they can recycle better in their own homes.
